They don't come much more pointless than this one anyway. This is a C64
programme, from ~1992. It was a rough mock-up/test, to see if it was feasible
to do Lemmings on the C64 in a similar style to the Amiga version ie. with 100
small Lemmings on screen at once and deformable scenery etc. Then someone
acquired the rights to Lemmings on the C64, which put paid to that idea.
It does absolutely nothing useful (apart from breaking some C64 emulators). To
run it, you will need a C64, or a decent emulator. Load the file, and type
'run'/enter twice. The cursor is joystick controlled (can't remember if there's
any mouse code in there), and will track any Lemming it comes close to, it also
causes the screen to scroll as it approaches the edges. Only the +/- icons are
active. These control the Lemming release rate, and you'll need to turn it up
to 99 to get all 100 Lemmings out at once. The Lemmings land in the liquid, at
which point they should die, but these are indestructible Lemmings, so they
just continue on, half embedded in the floor (indestructible Lemmings that
can't climb 'up' things), until they fall off the end and land in a huge pile
at the bottom of the screen (not as exciting as it sounds, you can only see the
top Lemming in the pile, but they are all still there, honest ;)
